If you have ever kept a pond in the United Kingdom or in-fact anywhere at all in the world you will be aware of the most important element that your pond needs. That element is Oxygen, like the human race your pond cannot survive without it. Possibly a fact not known by us all but if you intend to keep any kind of livestock at all in your pond you need to be aware of it.
Now what we need to do is supply oxygen into the water and your amphibians or fish will thrive in the environment you have assisted with. This is especially needed during the summer months where the sunlight will strip the oxygen out of the water, sometimes making the occupants very lethargic and if not added could possibly even cause death. We have all heard of stories where people have arrived at the site of their pond to find dead fish floating on the top with no apparent reason for their demise. This in a lot of cases is caused by oxygen depletion and you are now going to solve the problem once and for all.
So we do have quite a few choices as to where we can get our supply of oxygen from and how we deliver it into the pond. In this case we are going to use a Solar Pond Oxygenator which as its name implies in operated by solar power. Now as I indicated earlier the time of year that oxygen is most needed is during the summer months. This happens to coincide when we have the most sunshine which is very handy when it comes to running anything solar powered.
So we have a small solar powered air pump that delivers oxygen via a delivery hose to an air stone that is placed in the pond, simple. This product is really not that expensive but it enables your pond and its occupants to live a healthy life and you have no running costs. By the way I do keep a Koi pond and have done so for twenty plus years so I do know a little bit about the subject. As a by- product I would like to congratulate you on just reducing your carbon footprint a little but giving your pond life a better standard of living. Well done.
